  1. Shapes and Mermaid charts

    Draw lines, rectangles, ellipses, triangles and stars straight from the toolbar, and turn a code block into a Mermaid chart in any note or page.

    • New: Pick a shape from the toolbar and drag it onto the canvas.
    • New: Lines and arrows take end caps, so a connector can point, stop or both.
    • New: Mermaid charts render in notes and pages. Start from a code block and the chart draws itself.
    • New: Ask the assistant, or your own agent over MCP, to draw shapes and charts for you.
    • Fixed: Switching canvases no longer shows a usage limit popup you have not reached.
    • Fixed: A note opened full screen now follows dark mode.

  2. Folders and model choice

    Group canvases and pages into folders in the sidebar, and choose which model answers you in AI chat.

    • New: Create folders in the sidebar and drag canvases and pages into them.
    • New: Pin a folder to keep it at the top of the sidebar.
    • New: A model picker in AI chat, with new frontier models to choose from.

  3. Pages and side by side views

    Pages are now top level spaces with a block editor, and a page or canvas can open beside the one you are on so you can work across both.

    • New: Create a page on its own, next to your canvases in the sidebar.
    • New: Embed canvases, files, images, links and audio inside a page.
    • New: Open any canvas or page in a second view and drag things between the two.
    • New: Share a single text file with its own read-only link.
    • Improved: Drag blocks by their handle to reorder a note or page.
    • New: New features now introduce themselves the first time you open the app after a release.

  4. Save to Causal from Chrome

    The Chrome extension saves pictures, highlighted text, links and posts from X and Threads into the unsorted tray of the canvas you choose.

    • New: Save with a right click, the toolbar icon or Alt+Shift+S.
    • Improved: A picture dragged in from another web page now lands on the canvas.
    • Fixed: Cut, paste into collections, multi-select and wheel zoom behave as expected again.

  5. Video controls and easier resizing

    Videos play with proper controls, pictures resize from any side, and a whole selection resizes in one go.

    • New: Video plays with its own controls, with a setting to autoplay muted on loop.
    • Improved: Images and videos resize from every side and corner, keeping their shape.
    • New: Drag a grip on a selection to resize everything in it, undone in one step.
    • New: Make a note flat, with sharp corners and no shadow.
    • Improved: The Stop button in AI chat now stops a reply straight away.
    • Fixed: Long documents no longer jump to the top or drop keystrokes while you type.
